Hello everyone! I know it’s been a few weeks since I have posted my last blog, I’m sorry about that but come on give me a break I have been tremendously busy! With the start of the new season there are tons of things to get done, everything from promos to rehearsals of skits that I’m going to perform at the games. With all this being said I want to take all of you through what a typical game day is like for this furry guy.

When game day is upon me I try to sleep in a little bit, I know that I’m going to have a busy night of running around and doing stupid/crazy things so I need as much energy as I can get. After getting up and eating some breakfast I head out of my cave and start the tedious task of running around town tracking down some props and such that I’m going use that night. To give you an example I usually hit up a store where I can buy some silly string (for those pesky visiting team fans) and then I usually find a bakery store and buy a cake (again for those pesky visiting team fans). While I’m out and about I might come across something when magically an idea pops in my head about how to make it funny. For instance the preseason game we were playing the Orlando Magic I bought some snickers bars and a poster board. We all know that Patrick Ewing is now an assistant coach for the magic so I wrote a special note to Patrick Chewing and attempted to give him some of his favorite snack. (Side note Patrick was a good sport and wasn’t to offended when I interrupted their timeout to give it to him)
After running around town I try to relax a little bit and eat a hardy lunch, but the key word in that statement was TRY because something usually pops where I need to put out a fire or two before the game. Right around 3:30pm or so things really start to get busy for me, this is when I start pulling all of my props and signs out of my storage cage and get them cleaned and touched up. I also use this time before anyone is in the building to run through a skit I’m going to do that night. On games where I have the high flying Kings of the Court performing with me I’ll take about a half hour to practice our dunk show. Even though this is usually a very busy part of the day for me it is one of my favorites, it really gives me the opportunity to dial in and perfect things. More often than not I usually come out of run through a little banged up because we all know I don’t know how to do anything half speed.
Once I feel that I’m all dialed in, I head back to my cave and sit down for an early dinner. I try not to eat too much because the last thing I want is belly ache before the big night. This is a lot easier said than done, what can I say I’m a bear I eat a lot. After shoveling food into my mouth I sit back and visualize the game ahead of me. This time is what they call the calm before the storm! I hate this time because I love game nights and usually I can’t wait to get out there in front of the fans. The part I look forward to the most is opening introductions. The lights going out, the video rolling and boom fireworks and me at center court waiving my giant flag! No matter how many times I do this it never gets old, there is something just so exhilarating about this time.
Make sure to check back soon, maybe one of my next blogs will be about how sore I am after the games!
And remember, if you’re going to be a bear, be a Grizzly.
Be sure to high five me at the next Grizzlies home game and let me know you read my blog. Plus send me your comments and questions. I’ll try to answer as many as I can.
